Abstract
The pattern of cell proliferation in the lymph nodes of mouse at different ages was investigated by means of radioautography. Albino mice, from 4-day old to over one year old were divided six groups according to their age, and tritiated thymidine, 0.8 microcurie per gram of body weight, was given intraperitonealy in a single dose. The cervical nodes were removed two hours after injection, and labeled cells in the cortex and medulla were separately counted after necessary procedures.
1. Relatively, higher and stable cell renewal rates (R.I. 5.0 to 8.3) were observed in the lymph nodes throughout any postnatal ages in this investigation, though, youngest showed lowest rate.
2. No differences were noted between cortical and medullary nuclear labeling in this observation.
3. In the mature females, comparatively high nuclear labeling were observed during estrus compare with those of male and female diestrus group.
